National Conservatoire Ballet Company

This is the first professional youth ballet company of its kind founded in 2014 for students and youth in the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Western Downs and surrounding areas.

The ballet company works alongside and with local ballet schools to give all students an opportunity to dance within a company environment. Through performances, masterclasses and workshops students enhance and complement their current dance training.

The ballet company performs up to four seasons a year where the company members will perform both traditional choreography as well as new works in the classical and contemporary fields. The ballet company likes to acknowledge the importance of the local dance schools and as such holds their rehearsals and classes on weekends only, with the necessity of the continuation of the students dance training at their chosen schools.

Company members tour to regional areas each season. All company members will be able to participate in workshops and masterclasses with both national and international dancers and choreographers yearly at no cost to the students.

Entry to the ballet company is by audition only and are held annually. Upon being accepted into the National Conservatoire Ballet Company all students will be with the company for the year with the opportunity of being invited back for following years.

The ballet company is run over four terms with the fourth term being shorter to enable students to prepare for their respective dance schools end of year concerts and will allow extra time for any students performing in competitions or ballet exams throughout the year.

The National Conservatoire Ballet Company will maintain continual contact throughout the year with students, parents and respective ballet schools to ensure that each member of the company is well cared for and nurtured in the best way possible.
